At Booz Allen, we’ve always had a deep interest in supporting education- and youth-based programs in our communities. By partnering with organizations that educate and advance opportunities for youth, we help build character as we serve kids in need.
We seek out diverse outreach and charitable initiatives that enhance learning—often through technology—and help youth prepare for futures driven by purpose and integrity.
From mentoring students to donating school supplies, our employees are stepping up to assist, empower, and educate young people.
Booz Allen supports the philanthropic programs that reflect not only who we are as people, but also as an institution.
Our focus is on school, family, community, and institutional programs that support lifelong learning and knowledge development. For example, we support For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST®) robotics team competitions nationwide to encourage students to develop science, math, engineering, and critical thinking skills.
Students work alongside engineers and technicians—many from Booz Allen—to design, build, and program sophisticated robots that compete in FIRST challenges. Booz Allen provides grants to teams and sponsors regional competitions, and our employees volunteer as mentors and competition judges.
Neediest Kids provides an emergency fund that school systems in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia can use to purchase items students need to stay in class, including winter coats, medical and dental treatment, eyeglasses, and school supplies.
Booz Allen provides Neediest Kids with infrastructure support, including an office at the firm’s McLean campus and a range of development and youth education services.
We also underwrite the B’nai B’rith International Diverse Minds Youth Writing Challenge. Teens across the nation write books for children featuring themes on diversity for the chance to earn college scholarships. Winning manuscripts are published in hardcover and sold on amazon.com.
Our successful one-of-a-kind mentoring program called “Make the Connection” supports the Girl Scouts Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC). Dozens of staff volunteer at the program to introduce 7th- to 12th-grade girls to the corporate world and offer tips on meeting personal and professional goals. The firm also created the “On Your Way” workshop to teach girls practical life skills such as finance and interpersonal communications.
Booz Allen has also sponsored GSCNC excursions to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space and American Art Museums and National Gallery of Art, and enabled the girls to attend a lecture by the three surviving members of the Greensboro Four.
In addition, we’re a nationwide supporter of Toys for Tots. In the 63+ years since Toys for Tots was launched, the US Marine Corps have donated 400 million toys to over 188 million children. Since 1991, Booz Allen volunteers have participated in the annual toy drive, collecting both toys and funds through online contributions.
