Community Outreach

2009 Special Olympics Winter GamesEmpowering People. Inspiring Change.

Booz Allen Hamilton's employees are passionate about making a difference in communities across the nation. At Booz Allen our approach to corporate philanthropy is simple—directing our resources to the organizations and causes our employees care about. This employee-centered approach to giving back is a distinguishing feature of Booz Allen’s community leadership.

Volunteers from our Philadelphia office speak about it this way, “As a firm, we focus on the values of diversity, teamwork, and community impact, and we strive to be a catalyst in our community and a brand synonymous with commitment to long-term goals and solutions.”

A survey conducted in April 2008 shows that 92% of staff contribute financially to a nonprofit(s) and more than 74% have volunteered within the last year–totaling 131,000 hours to more than 600 nonprofits in the United States and abroad. “I believe there are an abundance of people in this world that want to give, volunteer, support, and inspire,” says Lexington Park, Maryland-based employee Laura Howard. “At Booz Allen, we encourage each other to act on those desires, small or large, and have seen that miraculous things are possible.”

The firm’s commitment to community and encouraging our employees dates to founding partner Jim Allen who said, “Activity, participation—those are the keys. There are many things in which to participate—community affairs, schools, churches, welfare organizations, professional and industrial groups. Choose wisely, but participate.”
