Booz Allen has been recognized by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) with an “Excellence in Practice Award,” recognizing the firm’s Onboarding Program for its achievement of measurable results through workplace learning and employee development. Booz Allen also received Citations from ASTD for the ninth year in a row, with its Women’s Agenda and Belting programs winning recognition this year. An international association supporting the training and development field, ASTD issues awards and citations to learning and development programs that demonstrate measurable results by contributing to increasing workforce capability and organizational competitiveness.
“Booz Allen’s steady growth and geographically dispersed workforce requires us to have a best-in-class Onboarding Program that provides a consistent new hire experience regardless of location,” said Aimee George Leary, director of learning and development. “The program spans an employee’s first year at Booz Allen and is designed to increase affiliation with the firm, reinforce the firm’s culture and core values, and prepare new staff to make an immediate impact for our clients. By engaging with new hires early and often, and providing those involved in the onboarding process with the resources to effectively support them, the program sets the stage for success for the first year and beyond. “
The ASTD awards were presented at the association’s International Conference and Exposition, held in Orlando, FL in May. Of 182 submissions received from firms in 11 countries, Booz Allen’s Onboarding Program was one of 16 practices that earned an award. Its Women’s Agenda and Belting Programs were two of 78 practices that earned ASTD citations.
