Booz Allen was recognized for its financial support of nonprofits and the volunteer spirit of its employees at the Washington Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Awards in Washington, DC on May 11, 2012. The firm was ranked at number seven for Washington Metro Area volunteer hours with 27,528 hours donated by employees in 2011. In addition, the firm was number nine of the Top 10 Corporate Philanthropists with regional financial donations totaling $3.49 million in 2011.
The firm was one of only a few companies with recognition on both lists with most companies stronger in one over the other. Booz Allen’s employee engagement model of philanthropy allows for funding to be provided to nonprofits where employees are most active as volunteers.
