Booz Allen Hamilton was inducted into the Platinum PR Awards Hall of Fame this month in recognition of the firm’s work for the Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE) on the Real Warriors Campaign, which encourages returning U.S. service members, veterans and their families to seek help for “invisible” wounds and aid in recovery and reintegration.
Since 2008, Booz Allen Hamilton partnered with DCoE in the development and implementation of the Real Warriors public education campaign, with the goal to reduce stigma and highlight the strength and courage that lie at the core of the recognition that one needs help.
Booz Allen Vice President Grant McLaughlin said, “This prestigious award makes it very clear that Booz Allen is a serious player in the world of public relations, cause-related and social marketing. Our efforts have positioned Real Warriors front and center alongside big name brands and our work and the Real Warriors mission are critical to the health and wellbeing of our nation’s warriors.”
The Real Warriors campaign has successfully leveraged both social media networks and traditional media channels to reach service members. The traditional outreach alone netted coverage of its PSAs in 177 countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan, reaching 1.5 million members of the military community weekly. The PSAs have aired domestically on 270 TV stations, helping to drive traffic to the Real Warriors Web site and to the campaign’s Facebook page, which has nearly 21,000 likes as of Sept. 2011.
