Booz Allen SVP Receives Nichols Medal from the Stern School of Business
Van Lee is honored for his leadership and commitment to community service.
New York University's Stern School of Business has awarded Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Reggie Van Lee its prestigious Nichols Medal. The award is conferred annually on a leader who exemplifies integrity, enterprise, and service. Last year's honoree was Kenneth Chenault, CEO of American Express.
Van Lee received the Nichols Medal in recognition of his leadership and mentoring of the students in the Stern Consulting Corps program, and for serving as a role model to students at events such as the Luncheon Lecture Series, Admitted Students Day, and the Outclass Conference.
Van Lee also played an integral role in the Harlem Small Business Initiative, a cooperative project created by the William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation to help small businesses in Harlem compete in today's changing economic climate. Consultants from Booz Allen and students from the Stern School were among those that took part in the effort, which was a pilot co-op learning program that is now being expanded to Brooklyn and the Bronx.
"I am honored to receive this award, with its distinguished history, and I'm humbled to be in the same company as past honorees such as Jack Welch, Alan Greenspan and Ken Chenault," said Van Lee. "While this award is noteworthy, the actions it recognizes — volunteering to help the community — shouldn't be noteworthy. The fact is, however, that so few people take action to help their community and the world, that the few stand out."
