Booz Allen Hamilton is proud to sponsor Edward Hopper at the National Gallery of Art. This rare exhibition reveals the full spectrum of the artist’s talents through a collection of nearly 100 oils, watercolors, and etchings. From famous paintings like Nighthawks of late-night guests at a diner and the colorful scene in Chop Suey to the quieter brilliance of New England lighthouses and clapboard houses and barns, Hopper had a magic that was all his own.

The National Gallery is providing a robust program to support the exhibition, ranging from an opening-day lecture by Exhibition Curator Frank Kelly to educational programs that reveal how Hopper inspired moviemakers and was himself inspired by film. Also on the agenda are two concerts by the US Navy Band in the Gallery’s outdoor Sculpture Garden on September 14 and 21.

In addition to its lecture and film series, the Gallery is hosting a fun, educational Family Weekend in November that is sure to delight the young and the not so young through an original play and other programs. Five paintings by Edward Hopper have also inspired an opera by renowned composer John Musto and librettist Mark Campbell. Later the Same Evening will premiere at the Clarice Smith Center for the Performing Arts in November, followed by one production at the National Gallery in early December.

There’s something for everyone at Edward Hopper. We hope our clients, colleagues, and staff take full advantage of this opportunity to experience Hopper’s mastery in person.

The National Gallery is free and open to the public from 10 am – 5 pm daily (and on Sundays from 11 am – 6 pm) every day except December 25 and January 1.
