Shrader Receives 2003 Leadership Award from Diversity Best Practices
CEO honored for creating a corporate culture that embraces and drives diversity success.
Booz Allen Hamilton Chairman and CEO Dr. Ralph Shrader has received a Diversity Best Practices CEO Leadership Award for his ongoing commitment to creating an environment of diversity and inclusion within the firm. Shrader was one of ten CEO award winners honored at the 10th annual Diversity and Women Leadership Summit held on October 15, 2003, in Washington, DC.
"When I think about the legacy of diversity at Booz Allen, I believe that I've been able to pull together the firm and help shape it around a set of core values that will endure," says Shrader. "I hope that one hundred years from now, people will still hold dear that set of values. People will say that I was a leader who, while not the originator of our diversity commitment, at least made sure that we stayed the course and made solid progress."
The leadership awards showcase the nation's progressive business leaders for embracing diversity in markets, workforces, and communities. Phil Condit, Chairman and CEO of The Boeing Company; Tim Solso, Chairman and CEO of Cummins, Inc.; Daniel Carp, Chairman and CEO of Eastman Kodak Company; Sidney Taurel, Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of Eli Lilly and Company; John Rowe, Chairman and CEO of Exelon Corporation; Dr. Vance Coffman, Chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corporation; Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of the National Institutes of Health; Michel Landel, President and CEO of Sodexho USA; and Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. were also honored in addition to Shrader.
Shrader also participated in a CEO roundtable discussion, a centerpiece of the two-day Diversity and Women Leadership Summit. The nine CEOs shared their perspectives on the importance of leveraging corporate diversity to build an inclusive workplace.
The 2003 CEO Leadership Award winners are profiled in the September /October 2003 issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal.
