Booz Allen CEO Receives Community Leadership Award

Virginia Congressman Tom Davis praises Dr. Shrader and his commitment to community service.

McLean, Virginia, October 12, 2001 — The Northern Virginia Community Foundation presented Booz Allen Chairman and CEO Dr. Ralph Shrader with the 2001 Community Leadership Award during its annual fund-raising gala. "We present the award to recognize outstanding service to our community," said Janet Miller Kreutter, Executive Director of the foundation.

Booz Allen Hamilton practices an employee-centered philosophy of community service and Dr. Shrader sets an example with his own community outreach. He is Chairman of the Board of The Neediest Kids, Inc., and serves on the Board of the Wolf Trap Foundation, the US National Park for the Performing Arts, and on the Board of Abilities, Inc., an organization dedicated to improving career opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Shrader is also a member of the Advisory Council for the Character Education Partnership.

"Dr. Shrader has, indeed, transformed his community for the better, proving that one man can make a difference in the lives of many," declared Congressman Tom Davis (R-VA) in a citation in The Congressional Record. "He is that rare individual who cares more about doing good than getting credit."
