Booz Allen Hamilton Named a Top Military-Friendly Company

Veterans-focused magazine picks the nation’s best companies for providing opportunities to those who have served, and who are still serving in the Guard and Reserves.

McLean, VA, November 9, 2006 — Booz Allen Hamilton announced that it has been named one of the nation’s “Top 50 military friendly employers” by G.I. Jobs magazine.

50 Military Friendly Employers

The 92-year old firm, headquartered in McLean at 8283 Greensboro Drive, employs more than 11,000 people in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

“The military gives so much to our nation.  It’s only fitting that we give something back. Whether in the form of job opportunities, public recognition, or corporate support for our employees who still serve in the Guard and Reserves, it is important to recognize and respect service to our country,” said Booz Allen Senior Vice President Dennis Doughty, Managing Director of the firm’s Global Functional Capabilities.

From its Greensboro Drive location and at client sites throughout the area, Booz Allen offers wide-ranging expertise in strategy and leadership, organizational change, operations and logistics, and information technology.

“Our firm employs a large number of military veterans, both here in McLean and across the nation,” said Booz Allen Senior Vice President Mark Gerencser, Managing Director of the firm’s Global Government Markets. “We do a lot of work for the Department of Defense, and military veterans come to us not only with the knowledge and skills learned in the service, but also with the great self-discipline, dedication, work ethic, and strong core values that make them ideal for our business.”

Among the indicators of its military friendly culture, G.I. Jobs notes that Booz Allen has a grass-roots diversity group called the “Armed Services Forum.” The forum helps former military employees transitioning into the firm learn the corporate culture from other vets. The forum membership also helps those in the firm with no previous military experience, and who work on Department of Defense contracts, learn about the military culture through a regular offering of “DoD 101” brown-bag sessions.

G.I. Jobs is a national magazine that assists transitioning military members and veterans in their search for civilian employment. This is the fourth year the magazine has named outstanding military-friendly employers. The list is determined from surveys, interviews and research of Fortune 500 companies and other major corporations. It was created based on company criteria including the strength of companies military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, and companies policies toward National Guard and reserve service.
