Joseph Martha
Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Joe Martha has more than 30 years of industry and consulting experience. He is based out of the firm’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and its office in Cleveland, Ohio.
He has worked with both public sector and leading commercial manufacturing, distribution, and retail companies in the areas of supply chain management, strategic sourcing, logistics strategy, distribution productivity, process improvement, organizational design, and information systems.

Directed an effort that led to the selection of a 3PL provider for a large chemical manufacturer who outsourced their distribution, transportation, and international supply chain activities

Directing a study to craft a strategic roadmap that positioned the distribution operations of a large cellular wireless carrier to be cost-efficient, less asset-intensive, and highly service sensitive; resulted in relocating its two distribution centers to better serve both forward and reverse logistics flows

Assisting in the design of a global distribution strategy to integrate operations across the 18 independent operating companies of a major consumer products manufacturer

Directing a diagnostic of total company spend for a leading healthcare manufacturer and developing commodity strategies for office supplies and other components; resulted in an annual savings of over $15 million and the implementation of a new organization model

Leading an assessment of spend and development of sourcing strategies for the direct and indirect commodities of a large hospital specializing in cancer treatment; strategies resulted in cost savings of 12%+ and process and practice efficiencies

Directing a review of sourcing and material management organizations for a Midwestern utility; recommendations led to a 14% reduction in commodity costs and an 18% improvement in inventory turnover

Mr. Martha co-authored the book, Value Nets: Breaking the Supply Chain to Unlock Hidden Profits; articles such as “The Energy-Efficient Supply Chain,” which was published in strategy+business; and the Booz Allen study "Prepare to Bounce Back – The Importance of Incorporating Resilience into the Supply Chain." A frequent speaker, he is also a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
He earned an MBA from Case Western University and a B.S. from John Carroll University.
