David J. Karp

Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President Dave Karp oversees the firm's business in the Pacific, including Hawaii, Korea, Guam, Japan, and Alaska from his office in San Diego.  In his Navy and Marine Corps role, he coordinates the firm’s business with the U.S. Marine Corps, Program Executive Office (PEO) Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), and PEO Space Communications Systems.  Mr. Karp works closely with Booz Allen staff in Northern Virginia, San Diego, Norfolk, Crystal City and Quantico, and regularly visits these and other locations.

Mr. Karp has 29 years of professional experience working with the Navy and Marine Corps, including 6 years of active duty and 12 years as a reservist (while at Booz Allen).  Prior to Booz Allen, Mr. Karp was a commissioned Naval Officer with expertise in C4I, weapons and combat systems afloat and ashore.

Mr. Karp joined Booz Allen in 1985, where he leveraged his operational Navy C4ISR skills to build a portfolio of assignments involving:

  • C4ISR/IT system design, development and implementation
  • DoD and DoN system acquistion
  • Program & financial management
  • System engineering

Mr. Karp served as the Client Service Officer (CSO) of Booz Allen’s Navy and Marine Corps business for 4 years.  He helped build the Marine Corps business at Booz Allen, starting with Marine Corps Headquarters and the Marine Corps Systems Command, and moving more recently into major roles in support of the MARFORs, MEFs and other operating staffs and commands.  He helped lead the movement of the SPAWAR team from Crystal City to San Diego in the mid 1990’s and helped build the firm’s support to SPAWAR HQ,  the PEOs, and the SPAWAR systems Center.  Mr. Karp helped build the firm’s business in support of the OPNAV staff in Washington, DC, and a wide range of other Navy clients throughout the Fleet.

Mr. Karp has served in a number of roles over recent years that offer insight and value to the firm’s clients. One of his initial projects with the firm was to develop a communications architecture in support of CINCPACFLT.  He led projects associated with Command Center design, Network integration, C2 acquisition and Coalition interoperability. 

Mr. Karp is a member of the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).   Mr. Karp holds a B.S. degree in Naval Architecture from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Masters Degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University. He is a graduate of the Naval War College.
