Gale N. Smith

Based at Booz Allen Hamilton’s McLean, Virginia campus, Senior Vice President Gale Smith leads the firm’s Army business in the National Capital region, including Headquarters, Department of the Army, Army Field Operating Agencies, Army Pacific, Training and Doctrine Command, Future Combat System, and related programs. He is also responsible for numerous client efforts within US PACOM.

Mr. Smith’s extensive portfolio includes a full spectrum of strategy and operational consulting capabilities that support policy development with:

Implementation strategies
Organization and leader readiness
Exercises and training
Mission rehearsals
Military operations

He has developed numerous solutions for Army and DoD clients in areas that include:

Ground systems acquisition strategy and test and evaluation
System engineering and integration
Organization vision, policy, strategy, and implementation
Organization readiness
Leader development and readiness
Distributed simulation-based training development and implementation
Command and staff readiness development and implementation
Mission planning and mission rehearsal development and implementation

A former Colonel with the U.S. Army, Mr. Smith has held command and staff positions in operational and institutional organizations from platoon to theater-level worldwide. He is a combat veteran with service in Viet Nam and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Mr. Smith has uniformed service and business experience in Europe, Southwest Asia, Korea, and throughout the U.S. and its territories.

He is a member of the Association of the U.S. Army, Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association, U.S. Army Armor and Cavalry Association, Military Officer Association of America, and is on the board of the Army Heritage and Education Foundation.

Mr. Smith holds an M.A. in management and public administration from Midwestern State University; a B.S. with honors in political philosophy and international relations from the University of Southern Colorado; and is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and the Armed Forces Joint Staff College, Rotary Wing, Armor, and Infantry schools.
