Catherine Nelson

Senior Vice President Catherine Nelson leads Booz Allen Hamilton’s financial management, budget planning and formulation, cost estimating, economic analysis, and quantitative program management capabilities for the firm’s homeland security and law enforcement markets.

She has over 25 years of experience developing and delivering a broad array of consulting services to provide resource planning and analysis and financial management, including business systems modernization for both public and private clients.

A recognized expert in integrated financial resource management and the public sector CFO agenda, Ms. Nelson is responsible for providing senior-level expertise to clients who are implementing commercial off-the-shelf business systems, as well as clients seeking financial management, accounting, internal controls, budget improvement, and operational support.

Key areas of expertise include:

  • Financial management and accounting operations
  • Financial risk management, control, and regulatory compliance
  • Financial management process and systems improvement

Prior to joining Booz Allen in 2003, Ms. Nelson provided financial management consulting and business systems development and implementation support to organizations such as Logistics Management Institute, ICF, and Arthur Young & Company.

Ms. Nelson is a certified Project Management Professional and Certified Government Financial Manager. She is also a member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) and a representative to the AGA’s Corporate Partner Advisory Group. She earned an MBA in finance and accounting and a B.A. in economics, both from Duke University.
