Thomas Fuhrman Based at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Herndon, Virginia office, Senior Vice President Tom Fuhrman specializes in cyber and information assurance support for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). He leads more than 400 information assurance professionals who support clients in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as well as military services, combatant commands, and defense agencies. Mr. Fuhrman and his team provide security policy and planning; certification and accreditation; risk management; and the full life cycle of system security architecture, engineering, and integration services for critical communications and command and control systems. Prior to joining Booz Allen, Mr. Fuhrman served as a member of the staff of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), where he assisted the President’s science advisor in setting and articulating national priorities for science and technology, and in carrying out critical continuity programs and National Security and Emergency Preparedness communications responsibilities. Mr. Fuhrman also served more than 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, where he undertook a variety of flying, program management, and policy assignments. He is a graduate of the Air Force Test Pilot School. Author of the OSTP publication, Cybernation: The American Infrastructure in the Information Age, Mr. Fuhrman is a frequent speaker at conferences where he discusses topics in cyber security. He holds a U.S. patent for an automatic digital information acquisition system. Mr. Fuhrman holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from California State University, and a master’s in electrical engineering and two bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and mathematics from Purdue University.
